Optimum Pay Group have recently sponsored driver, Adam Smalley, who will return for a second season in the Miller Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup this year with Elite Motorsport.
A brilliant first season in the GT4 SuperCup last year was the latest step of Smalley’s impressive rise up the Ginetta ladder. The Lancashire based racer started his career as the junior scholarship winner and went on to secure the 2017 Winter Series and the 2018 overall titles.
After mounting a title challenge in the GT5 Challenge in 2019, the (then) 20 year old stepped up to the GT4 SuperCup last season. After winning only his sixth race in the series he scored a total of 10 podium finishes over the season and was the highest point’s scorer across the last 10 races.
Having already written his name into the record books as only the second driver ever to win races in three Ginetta championships, he will now be aiming to join an elite club with Tom Ingram and Charlie Robertson by winning both the juniors and GT4 SuperCup titles.
Carl Boulton, Group CEO of Optimum Pay Group and The Boulton Group, commented ‘We are really excited to join Adam and the Elite Motorsport family as a headline sponsor. As a group of companies, we believe in partnership, family and growth. When I learned more about Adam, I recognised that this was a perfect opportunity for all of us to continue our growth, whilst supporting a talented and ambitious driver’.
‘Having recently extended our group of companies into marketing, advertising, events and of course the exciting global payroll arm, we look forward to seeing Adam grow and succeed in 2021, both on and off the track.’
Smalley added, ‘As a racing driver, sponsorship plays the biggest part in a driver on and off the track. Without sponsors and partners, none of my racing would be possible. Gaining support from my title sponsor, Optimum Pay Group, has enabled me to continue this exciting journey and I look forward to building on last season’s momentum to be in strong contention for the title this year.’
The next championship series will be contested over eight race weekends throughout 2021, in support of the British Touring Car Championship.
Looking to the championship ahead, Smalley expressed, ‘I’m most looking forward to competing at Oulton Park as it’s my closest circuit. It means a lot of my friends and family come to this event and it feels great to have their trackside support. When you get it right, it can be a very rewarding track too. The barriers are close so there is no room for error, setting a fast lap there is always very gratifying.’
